Ekaterina Ashley

I’m a local Orange County artist, living in one of the most beautiful corners of the world and reflecting that beauty in my art. All my life I have loved art and been engaged in creativity, but art is not my professional activity. I am an engineer by education, a business analyst by profession, in love with beauty in all its manifestations.

I was born and spent my entire childhood in the small industrial town in Urals mountains, with interesting history, age-old traditions and amazingly hospitable people.

I became interested in watercolor a few years ago, having attended a master class, in a big city where I lived for almost 15 years until recently moving to California with my husband. It was that master class that inspired me, and I plunged headlong into a watercolor journey.

I am inspired by nature, and from the very beginning of my independent practice, I began to paint landscapes and precisely those places where I’ve been myself. I captured beautiful landscapes on trips, travels, and after that I paint non-stop from photographs at my home studio. In my watercolor collection there are whole series of works about places in different parts of the world.

By 2020, I had joined the International Watercolor Society (IWS Globe), and later, the prestigious watercolor unions of both Russia (UWS) and America (AWS). My work has graced international exhibitions and competitions, and now, I’m an active part of the creative scene in Orange County, where my family and I have settled.

Moving to Orange County from the Bay Area was a decision we’ve celebrated every day. The beauty here is unparalleled, and it’s the perfect backdrop for nurturing my artistic passion.

I firmly believe that art and beauty have the power to save the world and people!
